Sunday 23rd August
We got up, got ready, had breakfast and got our bags packed up and checked out of the Airbnb. We then headed to the station to get the train to the airport for our flight to Bergen in Norway at midday. The flight was a bit bumpy but very short.
When we landed in Bergen we then got a tram from the airport to the city centre and Harry, Charlotte and Ollie went and checked into our Airbnb, while Beth had a walk around the lake with Lily asleep in the pram. It was very picturesque!

The others then joined Beth again and we all wandered around town and visited the food market by the water front.

We picked up some delicious Norwegian cinnamon buns for breakfast tomorrow morning and Harry and I also decided to get some dinner while we were there – opting for a seafood paella, which was delicious, and ate it on the water front.

Charlotte and Ollie went for a drink together and Harry and I took Lily back for bed. Charlotte and Ollie then brought back some sushi for their dinner and we all played Cambio when Lily was in bed.
Monday 24th August
Our alarms went off early and we got up and ready to be out the house by 6:45am to head to the train station, as today we were going on a big day trip tour!
At Bergen train station we got on the 7:04 train to Myrdal, which was a 2h13 journey on the Voss Railway. We all took it in turns to look after and amuse Lily.

Charlotte did lots of high five and waving practise!

The scenery from the train was beautiful.

We also ate our delicious cinnamon buns that we bought at the food market yesterday evening.

When we arrived in Myrdal, we jumped off the train and grabbed hot drinks from the station cafe, before jumping on our next train at 9:30 to Flam, which was a one hour journey on the Flam Railway.

The scenery was beautiful again and the train stopped halfway to let everyone off to see a waterfall and take photos.

We arrived in Flam at 10:30am and had an hour and a half to wander around and explore.

As midday approached, we picked up some lunch from the food stalls and ate it in the queue for our UNESCO Naeroyfjord cruise – a two hour fjord cruise from Flam to Gudvangen. We boarded the boat, which was really nice, and wow the scenery was beautiful! We had really lucked out with the weather too seeing as it rains over 50% of the time this time of year!

We arrived in Gudvangen at 2pm and had a 30 minute window to wander round before getting on the bus for our next leg of the journey.

We boarded the bus at 2:30 and had about an hour bus journey through the Naeroydalen valley, arriving in Voss around 3:20pm. Charlotte, Ollie and Harry popped to look at a view point, while Beth waited with Lily in the pram.

In Voss, we hopped on the 3:57pm train – the final leg of our journey on the Voss Railway, back to Bergen. This was an hour and 20 minute train, and definitely felt the longest part of the journey, as we were all tired after a long day!
When we arrived back in Bergen, Charlotte and Ollie popped to the supermarket to get some bits for dinner and we took Lily back to the house to give her some dinner and get her to bed.
Charlotte made us a yummy veggie spag bol for dinner, and we then played more Cambio before bed.
Tuesday 25th August
We had a bit of a lazier morning after a difficult night with Lily being up multiple times in the night because of teething. We had some breakfast and got ready and then walked about half an hour to a sauna and dip experience that we had booked at 10:20am. Ollie, Harry and I did the sauna and swimming, while Charlotte very kindly looked after Lily. It said the water was 15 degrees, but it felt colder! But you quickly warmed up in the sauna, which had a lovely view from it.

After this, we walked back home, via a bakery, picking up coffees, baked goods and some bread for lunch.
When we got back, we had sandwiches with the fresh bread and then went back out again to do some more wandering around Bergen, popping in some of the little shops down the alleys and visiting Bergen Fortress. Bergen was so much busier today as a cruise shop had docked!

We then got an ice cream from apparently the best ice cream place in Bergen – Hallaisen. We sat and ate them in a little courtyard.

We then wandered around the lake for a bit.

We then went back to the house to play some Cambio and give Lily her dinner before Harry and I headed to the food market to get some fish and chips for dinner to eat on the water front. It was so yummy!

We went back home to put Lily to bed while Charlotte and Ollie went out for drinks and dinner at a place serving Norwegian food. When they got back we all got an early night.
Wednesday 26th August
After a better night, we got up and ready as had some breakfast. Charlotte and I walked to a local bakery Grodt Brod to pick up some more bread for lunch sandwiches. We put lily down for a morning nap in the cot and finished it Cambio tournament with Charlotte and Ollie… Unfortunately, Harry was the champion!

We then packed up all our bags to check out of the airbnb. We took our luggage to a local luggage storage and then decided to go in the funicular up to Floibanen.

The top had an amazing view and lots to do – walks and cafes etc.

After admiring the view, we found a picnic bench to have our packed lunch on. While eating lunch Ollie spotted a red squirrel!! We then walked around a couple of lakes, which were very pretty… But also involved walking up very steep hills with the buggy to get to!

We also found a funny game on the floor which the others had a go at, before getting told off that it was for a private event!

We then admired the view one more time before it was time to get the funicular back down.

We collected our luggage and get the tram to the airport for our flight. We checked in, dropped our luggage and picked up some duvet at the airport, ready for our flight home at 7pm.
What a great trip with lovely friends and happy memories!
