Lily’s first holibobs!

Wednesday 3rd June
Our alarms went off at 5am after not much sleep from all the excitement/busy brains/Lily night wakes. We got up, got ready and finished packing up the car to get on the road.

We flew round the M25 to the Eurotunnel, stopped for a quick cuppa and boarded.

The tunnel crossing went quickly – a cuddle, change, feed and play with her new toy for Lily and we were there. We then began our 6 hour drive to our half way air BnB for the night! We split the drive up for Lily. The first two hours, lily slept almost all of it as she was due a good nap! We then stopped off to have our packed lunches and give Lily some attention. We then got back on the road for our next two hour stint, which we knew would probably be a bit trickier as Lily was due to be awake, so mummy moved from the front into the back to be Lily entertainer. We played with lots of toys!

She did really well for half of it and then got a bit fed up for the second half. We pulled over in a very dead village for our next stop. We then got back on the road for our final stint to our first airbnb.
We arrived to find the owner, a lovely french lady waiting outside to meet us. She couldn’t speak English and we couldn’t speak French, so we used Google translate to speak to each other through our phones! The place was amazing and so spacious just for the three of us. They lady said that the place is going to be her home when they’ve finished doing it up.

We made some dinner and then put Lily to bed after a tiring day – for Harry doing all the driving and for Beth being chief entertainer. So we also decided to go to bed.

Thursday 4th June
We didn’t set our alarms after a tiring day yesterday but no need and we were woken by our own alarm (Lily) at 5:15 anyway!
We packed up our things into the car, had some breakfast and got on the road to start our second day of travelling down south. We set off from the Airbnb at about 8:30am with another 6 hours of driving ahead of us. But at the end would be Grandma, Gramps and Granny Hen awaiting at our home for the next 4 nights! We broke the journey up again to time it with Lily’s feeds, changes and naps. All went well, but the weather was horrible!
Anyway, at about 4:30pm we arrived at the beautiful villa with everyone there to greet us – it was lovely to see them! We unpacked the car and caught up whilst the grandparents had some cuddles with Lily.

They had a wooden rocking horse that Lily could play on!

We then did bedtime with lily while everyone else prepared dinner. We had a lovely paella with salads and french bread alongside an amazing tasting G&T/wine and had a good chat and laughs before bed.

Friday 5th June
Lily let us sleep in until 7am this morning so we caught up on a bit of much needed sleep. We got up and took her into Granny Hen for a cuddle and then had a cuppa admiring the beautiful view from the villa.

When everyone was up we had some breakfast and then put Lily down for her morning nap. While she slept Beth went for a swim – it took her a while to get in as it was quite chilly and not that sunny! But there was a lovely hot sauna to go in afterwards to warm up.
Mum and dad popped into a local town to go to the supermarket, but also came across a lovely market. We stayed at home and had a bite to eat for lunch. As the weather brightened up a little we dangled lily’s feet in the pool and she clearly wanted to go in, so we got her changed into her warm swim outfit and took her for her first swim in the pool. She seemed to enjoy it and looked very sassy in her wetsuit and sunglasses!

All that swimming tired her out so we put her down for another nap while we all lay in the sun and Harry chipped some golf balls around the grounds – yes he’d packed his clubs!

We had some crisps and g&ts in the late afternoon sun and then went to do bed time for Lily while everyone else prepared Salmon and salads for dinner. We chatted into the evening and had a tart aux pomme for pudding and then went to bed.

Saturday 6th June
We were woken by our natural alarm Lily and as the sun was shining Beth decided to go for an early morning swim in the pool and get some lengths done before everyone else got up, while Harry and lily watched.

Once everyone else was up we had some breakfast and then soon after it was time to put lily down for her morning nap. While she napped, the ladies did some sunbathing by the pool, while Harry and Anthony chipped a golf ball round the garden! When Lily woke up, Harry, Beth and Tina got ready to take Lily in the car to the town that Sue and Anthony had visited yesterday (Lectour). We drove there, parked up and walked around pushing Lily in her new travel buggy along the cobbled streets for a little explore. We found a lovely view point as well as a nice cafe restaurant that mum and dad had told us about, so we stopped there for a drink.

We then popped to the Boulengerie to get some bread and pastries to take back to the house, and the supermarket to stock up on some other bits. Tina just about kept Lily awake to go down for her afternoon nap when we got home. The weather was quite cloudy and breezy in the afternoon so we stayed inside doing the crossword and playing with Lily when she woke up.

Tonight the grandparents were letting Harry and I go on our first date night in almost 7 months! We did bed time with Lily, put her down to sleep and then quickly got ready and left the grandparents in charge! We went to a local restaurant called O Pais, omly a 5 minute drive away, so really ideal. We sat outside as the evening sun had come out and it had a lovely view! It was a bit tricky for Beth to find something she could eat on the menu, so we both ended up having Duck! When in France eh!

After a lovely evening together, we headed back to the house to see how things had gone. They hadn’t heard a peep from our little Lils bless her.

Sunday 7th June
We had a lazy morning in bed with a cup of tea cuddling with Lily which was nice and then took her in to see Granny Hen again. When everyone was awake we all had some breakfast and then put Lily down for her morning nap. It was much sunnier and warmer today so Lily had another swim and then we did some sunbathing while Lily napped and managed to even get a bit burnt, oops! (Not Lily!). When Lily woke up she joined us.

We all had some lunch and did a bit more relaxing by the pool during Lily’s afternoon nap. Harry and I even did some playing in the pool together during Lily’s nap – catch with Lily’s ball toys, holding breath swimming competition and even handstands! It was fun!
That evening we had a BBQ in the sunshine as our last evening altogether. It was tricky getting Lily down for bed with teething problems, but we eventually did and enjoyed the BBQ.
Afterwards, we sat by the pool with our drinks and ice creams before bed.
