LEJOG Day 13 – Thursday 6th June

We woke up at Sarah and Tom’s, got ready, had some breakfast and then packed up and got in Boris with Tina to drive back to where we finished the route early yesterday near Dores by Loch Ness. The drive took an hour and a half and Sarah and Tom were off work so also drove to see us off at the start. We set off with views of Loch Ness and Tom took some footage of us on his drone! As we were cycling along we saw some alpaca…

Loch Ness is the water in the background of the photo

We entered Inverness and stopped for a quick meal deal lunch.

We crossed the Kessock bridge which was very windy!

We then cycled along a coastal road which was beautiful.

Tina stopped off every so often in Boris to check if we were ok and to top up our snacks. We headed North up towards Lairg via Evanton where we had a Toris (Tina and Boris) stop to shelter from the rain shower, but we were mainly very lucky with the weather today!

We then started a long drag climb for about 15-20km up to some beautiful views points where we met mum and dad briefly who flew up today!

We had 30km left to cycle to get to where we were staying in Lairg for the evening (10km of which was rolling downhill from the view points). We also saw our first Highland cow checking us out!

The last 10km was very slow due to some very sore legs! However it was very picturesque.

We cycled past Loch Shin and Shin falls (very near to where we were staying) and then finally made it to the sweet little cabin where we and Tina were staying for the night.

Tina made us a yummy dinner and gave Beth a well needed leg massage – saviour!!

Distance cycled: 111km

Elevation climbed: 840m

Time pedalling: 5h 59mins

Highlight of the day: Seeing mum and dad and some amazing views at the same time!

Lowlight of the day: Sore leggies!

1.5 days to go!!!
