Tuesday 25th March
All five of us got a lovely upgrade to club on the flight thanks to Dad. The flight was 1h45 and we arrived just before 3pm local time. We got our bags and went through the airport to find the Metro to take a couple of trains and a bit of a walk to where we were staying in Barcelona near to the Gothic Quarter and not far from the harbour. We all checked into our hotel and then Harry and I went for a wander down by the harbour to check it out. It was lovely and the water so still with some absolutely huge expensive boats on it!
We then all got ready for dinner and headed to the restaurant, Gourmet by Sensi, which wasn’t too far from where we were staying down the back streets. We had booked ahead of the trip after some research by dad.

We all ordered 3 tapas dishes each (15 dishes in total on our tiny table!) and shared them around. The food was absolutely amazing – best meal in a long time! We cheers’d to dad’s retirement.
After dinner, despite being very full, we walked to get gelato for pud – James had sussed out a good place nearby!

We wandered to the Cathedral of Barcelona with our ice creams.

We then headed back to the hotel for drinks in the bar and card games – trumps!
Wednesday 26th March
We woke up early and Harry and I decided to go for a little jog down by the harbour to explore before breakfast. It was a lovely morning!

We then showered and changed and met mum, dad and James to walk to a nearby bakery called Balluard Barceloneta for coffees and pastries for breakfast. There was so much choice but chocolate filled croissants or cheese and ham croissants were the most popular choice!

Harry and I then headed off for some exploring as we hadn’t been to Barcelona before, whereas mum, dad and James had, so they did their own thing while we tried to fit in as many of the sites as possible.
We first walked through a park to the Arc de Triomf.

We then continued onto the Casa Batllo building designed by the famous Gaudi.

We then continued to walk and came across a beautiful church.

We then continued onto the Sagrada Familia which really was pretty spectacular!

We then headed in the direction of the Park Guell, with the aim of finding somewhere to stop for lunch on the way. We came across a tapas place in a nice little square with a saxophonist playing, so we sat and had lunch. Harry had ox-tail, recommended by the waitress , I had a baguette and we shared some potatas baravas (of course)!

After lunch we continued our walk up to the Park Guell.

We then continued the final part of our exploring by walking up to the Bunkers of Carmel for the view over Barcelona that was promised at the top. It was worth the steep walk!

We sat at the top for a while just admiring the view.

When we were ready we walked back down the hill and found a bus stop to get a bus and then metro back to our hotel for a rest before dinner.
When we got back to the hotel dad had left to get his flight home ready to fly back out tomorrow to come and pick us up for his final ever flight!
After a rest we met mum and James for dinner at a nearby tapas restaurant. They did amazing paellas!

We all shared some churros for dessert!
